The History of The Springs Events

I have been at the helm of many start up businesses since the 1970s, from Dairy Farming to building and operating ethanol plants.  Some have worked and some have not, but through it all, I learned the value of hard work, persistence, and failure.

In 2009, I was up for another adventure.  After doing research in the wedding business, I decided that there was a niche for rustic, elegant, yet simple special event venues.  They were popping up all around me, but none seemed to look beyond their own back yard.  I felt that if I could model the building just right, and create and maintain a WOW factor landscape, I would be able to capture a niche that had seeminly been untapped.  I decided that I would make the model as simple as possible, which meant staying on course in the venue business and not deviating into other wedding businesses.  I would also allow the client to use their own caterer, their own photographer, their own DJ, and all of their own vendors, and not nickel and dime them for it because I knew that I did not like being nickeled and dimed.  I also felt it was critical to find or create a water feature in order to provide that ultimate memorable kodak backdrop that is so critical to creating lasting memories.  That is why I decided that every location would be a 'Springs.'

Finally, I decided one more big item-I would allow clients to create their own payment plans.  This one took me a while to come to, but again, just like others, I appreciate payment plans and I like the capability of eating an elephant one tiny bite at a time, because that is how purchasing and planning for a wedding can be...as big and overwhelming in size as an elephant.

After doing research, I decided the best area to start was Houston.  I found that young Houstonian brides liked the idea of a rustic venue, but just could not find them in Houston.  So after looking for months, I wound up on the very first property I found at the beginning of my search just south of Conroe.  And there was born Amber Springs.  To capture the ultimate rustic effect, I decided to build this original building all with wood.TR WED_0683

After a trememdous start at Amber Springs, I decided to scope out another large metropolitan area, San Antonio.  San Antonio offered a slightly different landscape, but after doing research, I once more realized that San Antonians were no different than Houstonians-they too wanted rustic, yet elegant wedding venues and yet had a tough time locating them.  After searching for some time, I came across a long time orchard property owner in New Braunfels.  We quickly formed a partnership and Boulder Springs was born.  Sitting atop a beautiful hill, we felt confident about its prospects of forming just the right spot for brides to create their most special moments.  This venue was to be crafted with stone to accentuate the strong German culture of the local area.

In 2010, after completing Boulder Springs, we headed back east to Houston.  In the beautiful tall pines, unique in Texas only to the east region of the state, Crystal Springs was born.  Located in Magnolia, Texas, just northwest of Houston, Crystal Springs boasts one of the most beautiful backdrops for a wedding that you have ever seen!

Having raised some of my kids in Georgetown, Texas, I always wanted to go back their.  This business afforded me just that opportunity.  After looking for quite some time in Georgetown on and off, I came across a piece of property that sits on the edge of the hill country atop a hill overlooking the picturesque scenes that are unique to Central Texas, where Gabriel Springs was born.

Recently, thanks to so many great clients, we have added a second building at Amber Springs and Boulder Springs, as well as adding a new venue near Katy, Texas, called Pecan Springs.  Soon, a fourth Houston area location will be erected called Brazos Springs, which will be south of Houston.

Please don't hesitate to come and see what makes The Springs Events locations so special for YOUR special occassion!
