Looking for the perfect spring wedding color scheme that will be both elegant AND bright?
Then the Lovelace’s navy blue, pink, and orange wedding is for you!
Jonathan + Allison got married at THE SPRINGS in McKinney, Stone Hall, on May 6, 2017. Not only did we love the couple’s wedding colors, but their love story was theeeee cutest. Please enjoy some inspiration from their wedding day, along with the answers that Allison gave to our interview about how her and Jonathan met, got engaged, and planned this incredible wedding!
HOW DID YOU + JONATHAN MEET?
We met at a Rangers game. It was for a company party–I work with Jonathan’s sister-in-law, and she invited him to come. We didn’t start dating until a year and a half later, after we had hung out at a mutual friend’s house a few times.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
Jonathan had told me, on accident, that he was going to propose sometime in November when we were planning a trip to New York for my birthday. Turns out after that, he had decided to surprise me.
We were going to a Tech game (Jonathan loves Tech) on October 24, 2016 with Jonathan’s cousin Zach. I went to A&M, so I wasn’t too excited about the game. We both grew up in West Texas so Lubbock was the closest “large” town with a mall, so I’ve been there so many times. Funnily enough, we had been dating about two years at the time of our engagement, so on the way down to Lubbock I was showing him that ANOTHER one of my friends had gotten engaged and jokingly said, “WHEN WILL IT BE MY TURN?!?” (Not knowing, of course, that he was going to ask me that night.)
When we pulled into town and went into Zach’s house, Jonathan kept asking me to go outside and see the back porch because Zach had built it himself. When he opened the door, “Will you marry me?” was written in candles (which only half were even lit, since it’s so windy in Lubbock). It was really sweet and surprising.
The ring is beautiful. It’s a round stone with a halo, and a very thin band. It’s perfect.
HOW LONG DID YOU PLAN YOUR WEDDING?
We planned our wedding for six months. We had THE SPRINGS booked within a week of our engagement. We really liked THE SPRINGS and wanted to get married there. The date options were limited due to Jonathan’s work schedule, so we ended up having six months to plan based on availability.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE SPRINGS?
We first looked at the Denton location since it was closer for all of our family in Midland (this way they wouldn’t have to drive all the way through the Metroplex). But, there were no openings that fit with our schedule, so we went and looked at THE SPRINGS in McKinney, which had ONE available date that was perfect.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM THE WEDDING DAY?
Watching everyone have a good time, and being there to celebrate our love was the best.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING?
Don’t sweat the small details. Yes, it’s your wedding and everything needs to be perfect–and it should be–but don’t make decisions based on what you think others will say, or if they’ll care. Nine times out of ten, if you ask someone what type of plates they ate off of, or what was on the tables at your wedding, they will have no idea. They are there to dance and celebrate you, not to nit pick at the choices you have made.
Also, don’t wait to plan anything. Even the small things. It will save you a lot of stress when your wedding day gets closer.
We absolutely L O V E D the Lovelace’s wedding day! Thanks so much, Allison, for letting us share it with other brides. We wish you years + years of pure bliss!
