The winter months are coming up again, and I couldn’t help but reminisce by writing a blog on Robert + Hope’s special day. There’s nothing quite like when it snows on your wedding day! Especially when the snow is decorating THE SPRINGS in Edmond‘s backyard (heart eyes!!).
In order to get the real scoop on Robert + Hope’s love story and wedding day, we interviewed the bride! All of the answers below are in her own words.
HOW DID YOU + ROBERT MEET?
Robby and I met on an online dating website. Our first date, and the first time we met, was at an outdoor concert in my hometown. Cliché, but I knew the moment I met Rob he was THE ONE.
HOW DID HE PROPOSE?
Robby proposed on our one year anniversary. He proposed in the exact same spot my dad proposed to my mom (without even knowing!). I had a feeling he would be popping the question soon, but I had no idea it would be that day, or how he would do it!
My best friend, who happens to be a photographer, was even there to catch it all on camera. I didn’t have a specific ring picked out, I just told Rob that I wanted a round-cut styled ring. I wanted (and trusted) him to pick something beautiful, and he knocked it out of the park.
Robert + Hope planned their wedding for about a year and a half–finally tying the knot on January 6, 2017 at THE SPRINGS Event Venue in Edmond.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE SPRINGS AS YOUR WEDDING VENUE?
The Edmond location was the perfect amount of distance between my husband’s hometown and my hometown, so that played a huge factor. THE SPRINGS happened to be the only venue we toured. I had an exact vision for what I wanted our wedding day to look like and THE SPRINGS matched perfectly. As soon as I stepped in the doors I could see myself walking down the aisle. Along with Rob, THE SPRINGS was love at first sight, too!
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE MEMORIES FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY?
Our wedding day was the ONLY day it snowed in Oklahoma this winter. The roads were absolutely horrible, so naturally I woke up a mess that morning. As soon as I got to the venue, my nerves were calmed. The snow only added to the beauty of the venue, and our photographer was able to get some GORGEOUS shots.
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’D GIVE TO FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING?
Invest in a skilled, experienced, and trusted photographer. Prices might be scary at first, but those photographs are something you will cherish for the rest of your lives. I was so thankful for our photographer. She ended up being a huge asset to planning out the agenda for our wedding day as well. They are jacks of all trades. 🙂
IF YOU COULD DO IT OVER AGAIN, WOULD YOU CHANGE ANYTHING?
The ONLY thing I would have done differently on our day is hire a videographer.
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL OTHERS ABOUT TOURING VENUES + GETTING STARTED WITH WEDDING PLANNING?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. THE SPRINGS went above and beyond to be as accommodating as possible.
Don’t stress… Easier said than done, of course, but all the stress instantly goes away the second you walk down the aisle and see the love of your life. That’s all that matters!
It truly was such a magical day. And now I’m all ready for the Christmas season with all these cozy, winter feels!!! 🙂
Thank you, Robert + Hope, for letting us be a part of your once-in-a-lifetime day. We wish you two all of the happiness in the world as you live your lives together as Mr. + Mrs. Hutchison!
