“Take my hand, I’ll teach you to dance. Spin you around, won’t let you fall down.” — He Is We
Lucas + Lupe are the most fun + vivacious couple. Their wedding in Conroe, TX was absolutely unforgettable! Both Lucas + Lupe are positive, energetic, and extremely loving. And did I mention, they LOVE to dance? 🙂 In fact, they even met on the dance floor.
Since we loved their wedding so much, we asked Lupe all about their love story and everything leading up to the big day. All of the answers below are in her own words!
HOW DID YOU + LUCAS MEET?
We met at a wine bar. It’s funny when we talk about that night, because as cliche as it may sound, it’s like it was meant to be.
I had just gotten my makeup trial done for my younger brother’s upcoming wedding and decided to go out dancing with my girls last minute; because why waste a good makeover, lol. Lucas had no intention of going out that night either, but his cousin came to visit from out of town and insisted he take her out. So we both ended up at Crush Wine Bar in The Woodlands.
One of my good friends actually met him first when she was at the bar grabbing a couple of drinks. They chatted and that was it. Lucas then saw my friends and I on the dance floor and then decided he was going to join us. He started dancing with my group of friends and slowly made his way to me and we ended up dancing together. He grabbed my hand and he said that at that moment he knew that we would end up together.
He ended up leaving early because his cousin and friends wanted to head out, and that’s when he asked for my number. I am usually very hesitant to give out my phone number, but for some reason I gave him my number. He texted me that same day and we even went on our first date that following week–yes, I said week; we didn’t want to wait till the weekend–it had to be sooner!
HOW DID LUCAS PROPOSE?
The proposal was a complete shock to me, even though we had discussed marriage and taken a few trips to the jewelry store. Let’s start off with September of 2015.
The beginning of the month was really busy for us because we were getting ready for our trip to Paris to celebrate my birthday! When I was planning my birthday dinner, we decided this would be the perfect opportunity for our families to finally meet; at this point we had been dating for about a year and a half. It was September 13, 2015, and almost all of our immediate family made it to the dinner; both our parents, our sisters, my brothers, our nieces and nephews; we had a full house.
Lucas decided he would be the one to give grace, so we all bowed our heads and he prayed. At the end all I heard was him say was, “And God help me with what I’m about to do, and may it be pleasing to you…” and then… he proposed! I opened my eyes and saw him on his knee and I said, “Yes!” I was in tears; shocked and happy at the same time. Our families cheered and cried with joy. It was perfect.
Lucas + Lupe booked THE SPRINGS in Lake Conroe (Stonebrook Hall) a year out, and finally sealed the deal on November 25, 2016.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE SPRINGS?
From the moment I clicked on THE SPRINGS in Lake Conroe (Stonebrook Hall)’s virtual tour I knew it was the venue that I wanted to get married in, but thought it was out of our budget. I want to say we toured about six venues before I actually showed the video to Lucas. When he saw it, he suggested we tour it. When we both walked in he then, too, loved the venue. We chose Stonebrook Hall because it had that rustic, chic look that we were looking for, along with the beautiful ceremony area outside. We also wanted to make sure we were able to book the venue for the whole day to ensure our bridal party had a place to get ready and spend time together before the wedding.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST MEMORIES FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY?
I would have to say walking down that aisle was by far my favorite memory. We had an outdoor ceremony and I had both my mom and dad walk me down the aisle; along with my niece who was holding my dress. I remember being calm, but the second I saw a glimpse of my husband-to-be I started to feel overwhelmed with happiness. I, of course, cried happy tears. It was the best feeling in the world, seeing Lucas wipe his own tears as I walked down the aisle.
Another great memory was dancing the whole night away–this was on the top of both of our lists. We both LOVE to dance. So of course for our grand entrance we had to put on a little show! Our bridal party came down first to “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars. Then the music faded to one of our all time favorites, “Vivir Mi Vida,” a beautiful salsa song by Marc Anthony. Lucas and I walked down the stairs holding hands, then once we reached the bottom he turned me for what seemed like 100 times, and we danced on the spot for our guests.
Our first dance was also a special moment for me. We danced to “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts. The whole time we were dancing we couldn’t stop smiling. This was the best day of my life and I knew I was blessed with this amazing man.

WHAT IS YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING?
Plan together and remember to enjoy every single moment. I was lucky because Lucas helped plan the whole wedding, from making our own invitations to choosing the vendors. We enjoyed every little trip we had to make meeting different vendors and going to a couple open houses.
IF YOU COULD DO IT OVER AGAIN, WOULD YOU CHANGE ANYTHING?
If I could do it all over I would not change anything! All of the imperfections made our day, our day–if my one-year-old nephew (who was our ring bearer) hadn’t thrown himself on the ground when he made it all the way down the aisle, and if he hadn’t kept walking up to the altar every couple of minutes, then it would not have been our wedding. =)
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL OTHERS ABOUT TOURING VENUES + GETTING STARTED WITH WEDDING PLANNING?
It can definitely be stressful with all of the choices available, so make sure that you do your research and look at reviews. Now, I am a perfectionist, so I know not everyone will do this, but I made a list of questions to ask all of the vendors that we met with to ensure that we had all of our questions answered. It may seem like a hassle, but it will help you to not waste any time trying to think of questions when you are sitting down with the vendors.
If you can afford a day-of coordinator, then book them. This way you do not have to worry about any details, and you can enjoy your day to the fullest!
Lucas + Lupe’s wedding day was nothing short of perfection. We were honored to be a part of it all, and wish them years + years of happiness + joy!!!
