This wedding wasn’t just any wedding in Norman, OK… It was one of the first at our newest venue! I am SO excited to share it with y’all today… It’s giving me all the heart eyes. Imagine this: a gorgeous, rainy day… a beautiful, indoor ceremony… and the SWEETEST couple. Yep, David + Hannah’s wedding may have been touched by “bad” weather–but it sure didn’t seem “bad” when they were able to take pictures like this!
To get more details on the big day and how they got there, I asked Hannah the following questions. All answers are in her own words!
HOW DID YOU + DAVID MEET?
We actually met the summer before I went into 8th grade & David into 9th grade! His family started coming to my church, so he was in the youth group with me. We both dated other people all through high school so we didn’t really have much interest in each other when it came to dating. But I do still remember the day I met him, and I remember thinking how big of a sweetheart he was and that he was SO cute! It wasn’t until the summer after my freshman year of college that we finally started to hit it off.
WHEN DID HE PROPOSE?
It was actually David’s birthday (October 9th) that he proposed. We were going back to the place where we had our first date to celebrate his birthday. The restaurant is called Mama Rojas and it is right on the edge of a gorgeous lake! There is also a light house on the edge of the lake that is so stinking cute! On our first date we had walked over to the lighthouse after dinner and watched the sunset. It was like a dream!
On the day he proposed, he picked me up at my house and I remember the whole drive to the lake he had his hand on my knee and it was soooo sweaty!! So I could tell he was nervous and that something was up. When we got to the restaurant he insisted on walking over to the lighthouse before dinner so we started walking over there. As we were walking, his voice started to get shaky. He started talking about our first date and how he knew on that date that I was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with–and then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife!! I obviously said yes!!! Then he had me turn around and our whole family was standing across from the lighthouse, as well as a close friend of ours who had taken pictures of the whole thing. It was such a special moment that I will forever remember!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE SPRINGS?
THE SPRINGS was the first and last venue that we went to tour! David came with my mom and I to tour it and we both instantly knew it was the place!! It was just so gorgeous on its own that it honestly hardly needed any decorations. It was so perfect for us! We also had such a great experience with the staff that it just confirmed our decision.
WHAT WAS THE BEST MEMORY FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY?
As cliche as it may be, my absolute favorite memory of the day was seeing David’s face when I walked down the aisle. I will forever be able to see that picture in my head. His reaction was so sweet and just the feeling of knowing I was going to meet my HUSBAND at the altar gave me a feeling that I couldn’t even begin to explain! It was so special.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING?
My best advice would be to make your wedding your own. Don’t go to Instagram or Pinterest and have expectations that your wedding will turn out like that. You’ll obviously get great ideas and inspiration from social media, but your wedding is just that: YOUR wedding. Comparison and expectations will only leave you disappointed. Be happy with the fact that your wedding will be unique to your style and personality! I made the mistake many times of seeing someone else’s wedding and thinking I wanted my wedding to be just like theirs. You can’t recreate a wedding exactly and, again, it’ll leave you disappointed! MAKE IT YOURS. Own it!
Candles on the reception hall grand staircase.

Fun groomsmen socks.
An AWESOME, personalized groom’s cake.
A GORGEOUS, white, and elegant wedding cake.
As you can see from the stunning photos, Hannah’s wedding day was unique and incredibly beautiful! We were so lucky to be a part of their special day… We wish these two the BEST + most amazing years to come!
