“The best relationships are the ones you didn’t expect to be in, and the ones you never even saw coming.”
Noah + Michala’s wedding in Weatherford was absolutely gorgeous–and their love story is just icing on the cake.
We asked Michala to tell us everything–from the wedding day to the proposal to how her and Noah first met. All the answers below are in her own words–straight from a SPRINGS bride to you!
HOW DID YOU MEET NOAH?
Noah and I both attended Florida College in Temple Terrace, and that’s where we met. I became best friends with Abigail Smith who had been very close friends with Noah since they were both in high school. She introduced us and we eventually became friends because of her and other mutual friends. Well, I volunteer at a Florida College youth camp in Austin every year and he came in 2015 with a singing group he was a part of at our college. Hanging out that year at camp is when we both really started liking each other.
WHEN DID HE PROPOSE, AND HOW?
Noah proposed to me in July of 2016, 10 months after we started dating. When he proposed, we were at camp again. There’s a 100 or so foot bluff that we climb every year while we’re there. He wanted to record the sunrise on top of the bluff and I convinced him to let me go with him. Little did I know, he knew I would ask to come and he actually videoed the proposal! It was perfect. We had talked about getting married but I didn’t suspect anything.
The ring is actually custom made. Some of the gold in the white gold band is from a ring in his grandmother’s set. One of the diamonds is from my mom’s engagement ring, and one is from his mom’s–then the third diamond is new.
Noah + Michala planned their wedding for nine months and got married on May 11, 2017 at THE SPRINGS in Weatherford.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO GET MARRIED AT THE SPRINGS?
We chose THE SPRINGS because it was so beautiful. We hardly had to decorate for it to look amazing! The staff was so friendly and accommodating! We loved that it was out in the country. The drive to get there is beautiful. We originally wanted our date to be May 12, but we really loved THE SPRINGS so we changed it to May 11!
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL FUTURE COUPLES ABOUT TOURING VENUES?
When touring, ask about the venue’s policies on set up and clean up. You don’t want to be surprised by having to do more after the wedding than you thought (which did not happen to us, but has happened to people I know). Don’t be afraid to ask questions! You want to make sure you pick the perfect venue for you. 🙂
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST MEMORIES FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY?
1. The toasts. They were so special. Noah’s brother/best man, my sister/maid of honor, and our friend/my bridesmaid, Abigail Smith, all gave toasts.
2. Seeing each other at opposite ends of the aisle. There’s nothing like it.
3. Singing with all of our guests right before the send off. First time as husband and wife.
4. When our photographers surprised us by having a few wedding photos at the end of our slideshow!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO FUTURE COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING?
Enjoy it! You only get to do it once. And no matter what, it will all work out and you’ll be married, which is the most important thing. 🙂 Also, if your fiancé wants to help, plan with him! We worked together planning our wedding and it was so fun. It merged our styles and made the wedding have a strong “us” feel which I loved–and we loved sharing it with our friends.
We absolutely loved Noah + Michala’s wedding. If you can’t get enough (like us) you’re going to die over their *preview* wedding video!
